There’s something wonderful about a spirit that manages to be incredibly smooth and satisfying… introducing Café Bohême.

Inspired by the rich cocktails enjoyed in the Salons of Paris during the Roaring Twenties, Café Bohême is a luxurious mix of gourmet coffee, multi-distilled French vodka and premium crème. Blended to be served straight up, on the rocks, or mixed with other premium spirits, Café Bohême also makes a fine after-dinner companion. Its amazing taste (ranked “Superb” by Wine Spectator) and low-alcohol component means it’s great for gifting.

And with Mother’s Day right around the corner (ahem, this Sunday), why not treat her to a little taste of Paris.

Sure it’s not your average gift of flowers or chocolate, but then again you’ve never been the average type.

And sometimes it helps to offer a 50-foot-long bar to kick things off. Loosen up your belts… it’s time for some Wildwood Barbeque. Brought to you by restaurateur Steve Hanson (Primehouse, Dos Caminos) and “Big Lou” Elrose (formerly of Hill Country), Wildwood is a carnivore’s paradise perfectly calibrated for Manhattanites.

Whether you’re in the mood for tender Slow Smoked Brisket, a stacked Barbeque Burger, or Spicy Molasses Chicken Wings, you can find something on the extensive menu (view it here) to satisfy your craving. Pace yourself and indulge in sides like buttery mashed potatoes, and desserts such as the decadent 8 Layer Chocolate Fudge Cake, or the Bourbon Banana ‘Nilla Wafer Sundae.

Polish off your meal with with a refreshing Mint Julep or go with the Tequila Sunbolt, a curious mix of white tequila, red pepper water, and limeade.

So much for that Spring diet.

Wildwood Barbeque opens for dinner on Thursday (4/22) at 5 p.m. Lunch service begins next week.

So let us introduce you to a new type of late-night entertainment that really delivers… Manhattanites, meet Insomnia Cookies, the new cookie emporium and delivery service for the Dusk ’til Dawn-crowd.
You know, a pack of noodles, a flavor packet, and presto, instant gratification.

Well, it’s time to rethink your favorite Japanese comfort food: introducing Ippudo, the new, posh Japanese ramen import that’s more brasserie than budget. Ippudo is a chain but what a chain it is… each restaurant boasts attractive interiors, lots of premium sake, and world-famous ramen. To understand the beauty of Ippudo’s ramen (yes, it is a thing of beauty), imagine the way a fine whisky is blended with batches from different years. Ippudo’s chefs make their broths through a similar, artisanal process, cooking pork bones for more than fifteen hours, then mixing it with a blend of broth from three different stages.

The result is a great bowl of ramen with a light aroma that complements the soup’s roasted Berkshire pork, cabbage, and scallions.

Just don’t rush the experience.

Ippudo opens on Monday (3/31).

Don’t be.

It’s already too late. Yes, opening week reservations are booked. And the gates that guard the interiors are shut tight. But here’s what you need to know about…

GETTING IN. You won’t see it on their website but reservations can be scored at reservations.momofuku.com (assuming the site does not crash). Have your credit card handy to reserve a spot. Fill out your login credentials and then wait to pick an opening spot. Be patient. Very patient (this is, after all, the only way to get a table). Then it’s time for…

DINING IN. Ever wondered what Shaved Foie Gras with Riesling Jelly, Lychee, and Pine Nuts tastes like? How about Fried Short Ribs with Grilled Scallion, Pickled Daikon, and Pickled Mustard Seeds? Expect the unexpected at Ko. Chang notes that Ko is “a cook’s restaurant” with every tool available.

Reward yourself with dessert too, like Fried Apple Pie with Sour Ice Cream and Toasted Miso and Pineapple Sorbet with Candied Pineapples.

Momofuku Ko opens to the public tomorrow (3/12).

When it comes to wine bars, sometimes less is more.

Take Terroir, the new 24-seat wine bar in the East Village from the owners of Hearth and Insieme. Part wine temple, part café, Terroir (Latin for terra firma) takes its name and inspiration from wines deeply rooted in a region. Designed by the brothers of co-owner Paul Grieco, Terroir is the size of a jewel-box with a 16-seat communal table in the center.

Once you step inside, unwind with one of 24 wines available by the glass, sourced from all over the world. Get there early for the daily special from 5 p.m to 6 p.m., where you can choose from five different wines for five dollars each. Complement your vino and indulge in a small Italian menu of paninis (try the duck ham with hen-of-the-woods mushrooms and Taleggio), hand-cut charcuterie plates (Iberico ham, duck prosciutto), and fried stuff (sage leaves with lamb sausage).

There’s even daily pasta and meatball specials.

And on a cold Winter day, who can resist that?

A Midtown setting. Savory Southern-European cuisine. A zebra-print carpet.

Sometimes history repeats itself.

And sometimes it gets more refined… like at Mia Dona, the just opened “New Italian” comfort food restaurant from Donatella Arpaia and Chef Michael Psilakis. With a nod to the well-loved and original Dona, the team behind Anthos is cooking up more of the same dishes that have earned them rave reviews.

Get comfortable in the blond wood setting (slightly Momofuku-ish) and then it’s time to indulge in starters (view the menu) like Crispy Fried Rabbit with salt & vinegar fingerling chips and delicious Gnudi made of sheep’s milk ricotta in a truffle butter sauce. For mains, try the heartier signatures like tender Braised Veal Breast with escarole and cannellini beans, Braised Beef Ribs with smoked mozzarella polenta and tomato, and Roasted Chicken with Tuscan artichokes and piccata sauce.

Leave room for Maple Panna Cotta, a deeply satisfying finish of maple walnut ice cream with candied walnut crumbs.

Then again there’s the Gianduja Semifreddo, a decadent dark chocolate sauce on hazelnut brittle.
