The Sangrita at Mercadito

Best Weekend Ever 5.4.07

Featuring Mercadito, SB3, Cocoa Bar, Dani, and 5Ninth.

Cinco de Mayo on Saturday? Oh yeah, this is definitely the Best Weekend Ever!

Cocktails at Mercadito

TACO THE TOWN
Mercadito’s perfect fish tacos pair well with their special Cinco’ cocktails. There’s the fiery Sangrita, a potent mixture of honey, citrus juices, cucumber and chile piquin, the Michelada, a zesty combination of lime, beer, and Worcestershire and Tabasco sauces, and the Margarita de Tres Citricos feauturing pineapple and chile piquin. Please remember to drink irresponsibly.

Mercadito, 179 Avenue B (11th Street), (212) 529-6490.

SB3

BAR ASSOCIATION
Warm weather and soft-openings go together like Grilled bangers and mash at SB3, a new East Village bar/eatery. Taste the best of the farmer’s market fresh ingredients before this Summer’s grand opening, while the staff’s in “Spring Training.” Cornflower curtains, French doors and dark polished wood tables mix swank with rustic; perfect for chowing on a corncob smoked slab bacon BLT. Don’t forget to try the Southwestern Bloody Mary or the Caramel Candy Apple.

SB3, 33 Avenue B (3rd Street), (212) 228-4461, sb3nyc.com.

Cocoa Bar

HOT CHOCOLATE
Your favorite vices: coffee, chocolate, and wine retail at Cocoa Bar, opening today on Clinton Street. Bonus: free coffee for the next seven days to celebrate the opening!

Cocoa Bar, 21 Clinton Street (Houston & Stanton Streets), (212) 677-7417, cocoabarnyc.com.

Wild Salmon at Dani

DANI BOY
Counteract some of those Cinco’ cervezas and overload on your Omega3s this weekend at Dani’s “Celebrazione dei Salmoni Selvaggi” (Celebration of Wild Salmon). A four course pre-fixe marries everyone’s favorite pink fish with an array of flavors: herbed ricotta cream, zucchini blossoms, ramps, pea purée and white asparagus. Polish it off with a passion fruit semi freddo.

Dani, 333 Hudson Street (Charlton & Vandam Streets), (212) 633-9333, danirestaurant.com.

5Ninth

GARDEN PARTY
Get tipsy with tapas and tunes in the garden at 5Ninth (or Cinco Noveno this weekend). Expect homemade tomales, stuffed jalepeños, tacos and fresh guacamole, and killer cocktails. Saturday (5/5), 4 p.m. - 7 p.m., DJ goes on at 10:30 p.m.

5Ninth, 5 Ninth Avenue (Gansevoort & Little West 12th Streets), (212) 929-9460, 5ninth.com.
