Inside SoHo’s Newest Italian Eatery

Auroro SoHo Opens

Dawn may rise in the east, but this Aurora, who rose to popularity at it’s first location in Williamsburg, has crossed the East River to a brand new spot in SoHo.

More playful than romantic, Aurora is a good place to impress a lady friend, particularly as a follow up to a shopping trip down West Broadway. The 60-seat Italian resto offers an authentic Italian countryside feel with a well-stocked wine cabinet (80 Italian varieties are available by the bottle).

Texture and taste are delicately balanced by Chef Riccardo Buitoni (formerly of The Ivy in London). The artisan cuisine (check out the menu) ranges from comfort: La Pizzetta (cracker-sized portions of grilled flat bread with marinated tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto di Parma), Gli Gnocchi (Yukon gold potato and lemon zest gnocchi with tomatoes and crab meat) to exotic: La Quaglia (farm raised quail, stuffed with black kale, Hudson Valley Foie Gras and apple purée).

During the darker hours candles are placed in small brown paper bags and top each table for a comfortable, warm appeal; just monitor your wine intake before your inner boy starts to play pyro.
