Get Ready For Parisian Gastropub
Belcourt Opens
Monday, October 8, 2007
You already have a deep appreciation for French cuisine.
Do yourself a favor and drop by Belcourt, the just opened Parisian gastropub in the East Village. There you will find the globetrotting chef Matthew Hamilton (Prune, Uovo) crafting French-meets-Mediterranean fare inspired by his visits in Tuscany, Tunisia, and Lebanon.
Indulge in the details:
FOOD. Traditional dishes get re-worked with unexpected twists. Start with Roasted Butternut Squash and Apple Ravioli, with wild mushrooms, brown butter and sage, or the Boudin Blanc Hot Dogs served with wild pepper potato chips. Mains hit the spot, too (view the menu). Order the Slow Roasted Pork Belly and Sausage or a satisfying Lamb Burger with spicy ketchup.
DRINK. Pair your meal with one of the restaurant’s carefully selected wines or one of the Prohibition Era cocktails prepared with house made sodas and bitters. Try a refreshing 1940’s Champagne Julep, a mix of Champagne, mint, Fino Sherry, and bitters (the secret weapon).
INTERIORS. Purely for your visual pleasure, the restaurant’s owners have imported antique wrought-iron doors, distressed mirrors, and art deco lights for an authentic French brasserie feel.
Think of it as a night in Paris (not that Paris) without the attitude.
