Delicious to the Max

Max Opens in Tribeca

If you’re alone on Valentine’s Day, chances are you’ll turn to Johnny Walker for company.

Ditch the brutal hangover by burying your sorrows in a hearty bowl of potato gnocchi with hot mozzarella embedded tomato sauce at the new outpost of Max in Tribeca.

We’ve long loved the Max duo for their outstanding food and low prices. The Tribeca location follows the successful Max formula in a small but inviting space that feels like a kitchen in a Southern Italian country house with its brick walls, provincial beige wallpaper, and dark wooden accents.

Pastas are largely responsible for those long waits at the other two branches: The Rigatoni alla Norma marries delicious rigatoni with a zesty tomato sauce and large cubes of fresh eggplant fused with melting globs of mozzarella. Hope for the porcini ravioli in walnut cream sauce to grace the list of daily blackboard specials, and know that plenty of excellent antipasti, salads, and meat/fish dishes are on hand to satiate carbophobes.

It’s BYO for the time being, but this is the first Max to take plastic.
