La Cave Is Born, Cru’s New Deal, And More!

Manhattan’s hottest new subterranean scene serves wine from baby bottles (no, really). But don’t hold that against Jacques Ouari’s La Cave des Fondus. Then you would miss out on charming French countryside interiors, and bubbling cauldrons of designer fondue. Cheesy… in a good way.

Of course, if you like your French cuisine savory and served in crepes, head up to Bar Breton in the Flatiron. Chef Cyril Renaud (Fleur de Sel) is the man with the pan, and is serving Gallete with Chorizo and Eggs Over Easy and Homemade Brioche French Toast with Berries. Dinner service and beignets start next week.

Speaking of new menus, Cru has a New Deal just for you. Stop by the Michelin-starred restaurant before 6:30 p.m. and indulge in a special $49 three-course, prix-fixe menu starring signature Fluke Crudo with Celery, Pink Grapefruit and Marinated Cucumber and Filet of Tile Bass with Baby Turnips and Braised Leeks. Chocolate Parfait seals the deal.
