The Bar at Death & Co.
Fatal Attraction
Death & Co. Opens

Blame it on this era’s branding phenomenon, but you’ve become a total snob: you indulge in chocolates only of single origin, scoff at the notion of Gray Goose since club rats discovered it, and find anything other than imported Japanese Wagyu sub par.
We’re all for elitism, but there’s only so far it should go. That’s the very idea behind David Kaplan and Ravi DeRossi’s new East Village cocktail lair, Death & Co. The unmarked, luxuriously cryptic establishment readies five star cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and shared plates in an environment where you can sport your favorite indie rock getup.
Dim candle lighting, espresso leather banquettes, gold leaf flecked gray walls, and Venetian chandeliers ghoulishly invoke the prohibition period, so it’s no surprise the sumptuous drinks within have fueled a deafening buzz. A bar staff with experience manning the city’s other premier cocktail corrals concoct delights like the Monongahela Mule, composed of Old Overholt Rye, lemon juice, homemade ginger beer, mint, and raspberry.
After ingesting three, don’t run for Death’s door just yet. Astonishing plates like prosciutto wrapped pears with chèvre and caviar sprinkled tuna sashimi won’t just revive you; they’ll take you to Heaven.
