The Art of Drinking

Picture the scene: you’re chatting up tonight’s hottie and and your eyes slowly drift to the the painting on the wall. Could it be that you’re more interested in the bar’s decor than the potential hookup?

Don’t worry, there are more like you out there, and now you all have a place to congregate. The boys behind GalleryBar on the L.E.S. (officially opening on January 18th) have made art the centerpiece of their new gallery by day, lounge by night.

Art aficionados will love the new shows each month (keep an eye out for the giant belly button sculpture). But, those of you who want to simply admire the works when GalleryBar isn’t in full gallery mode can swing by the candle-lit, concrete and brick-walled lounge to sip drinks in the pebbled-leather banquettes to the DJ’s beats. Or, maybe just have your photo snapped in a vintage 1963 photo booth in the back.

The downstairs lounge isn’t quite as art laden, but seeing that the owners designed and built the whole space from scratch, GalleryBar is truly a work of art in and of itself.
