Wine Pairing

Barcibo Enoteca and Pudding Stones Debut

Does the city really need two more wine bars? That’s like asking your buddy who’s tying the knot tomorrow if he wants another free lap dance.

Here are two new reasons to cross 27th Street:

Pudding Stones, 1457 3rd Avenue (at 82nd Street), (212) 717-5797

Vibe: Floor to ceiling windows, gray suede bar stools, slender mirrors, and black leather silhouette chairs bring minimalist sophistication to an area saturated with college bars. Have your next wine gathering in the downstairs lounge.

Tunes: Smooth Jazz, soft R&B.

Juice: Spans the globe with 100+ bottles from California, Argentina, France, Italy, and Australia. 21 wines offered by the glass, in addition to 13 half bottles.

Grub: Bites include a selection of cheeses from Artisanal, duck mousse pâté with julienne pear and drizzled honey. A Mediterranean inspired dinner menu offers a comté topped burger and roasted Hudson Valley duck.

Barcibo Enoteca, 2020 Broadway (at 69th Street), (212) 595-2805

Vibe: Neighborhood Italian enoteca you could just as well find in the Florence’s Oltrarno neighborhood. Brick walls, stone floors, and granite bar tables enhance the convivial bi-level space. We like the secluded upper room with the white-tiled open kitchen.

Tunes: Gypsy Kings and the like.

Juice: Strictly Italian in 100 varieties.

Grub: Being an enoteca, it’s mostly about the prolific meat and cheese selections to appropriately accompany your choice of vino. Panini and risotti are also on tap.
