Beauty and The Greek

Anthos Opens

Sexy. Smart. Strong.

Donatella Arpaia might be the woman of your dreams: she’s easy on the eyes and business savvy. She can also weather a storm: just weeks after the closing of her Greek restaurant Dona, she and partner/chef Michael Psilakis are opening Anthos, today.

Like Dona before, Anthos (Greek for blossoming) is haute Greek cuisine at its finest. Chef Psilakis doesn’t ditch the flavors that everyone loved but has reinterpreted them into serious plates. Dishes like Tasmanian crab with sea urchin tzatziki, a trio of Mediterranean inspired crudo, and ouzo, a shellfish stew infused with saffron, are all excellent. Desserts go high brow as well, with pastry chef Bill Corbett’s sweet takes on classic Greek favorites.

The restaurants interiors, formerly the Aqua Pazza space, impart a modern, slightly feminine vibe courtesy of Donatella’s go-to designer Matthew Sudock. Espresso-colored chairs, pale pink tablecloths, and cherry blossoms complement the sleek decor.

End the night with a delicious Deconstructed Baklava and you’ll leave thinking… it’s all Greek to me.
