Azza Restaurant and Lounge |
A Moroccan HolidayAzza Restaurant and Lounge Opens Wednesday, March 14, 2007 Morocco is a bit like New York: an exotic blend of cultures and flavors. And, now its unique French-Middle Eastern flair is coming to Midtown East with Azza, the new Moroccan restaurant and lounge. Azza’s gold-plated, domed window corridor leads to a parallel universe of dizzying colors and sights. Arabian carpets adorn every inch of the floor, and walls have been draped with shimmering curtains and stunning bejeweled gold pictures. Intricate lamps loom overhead as you sit in champagne-colored leather chairs enjoying Chef Steven Ferdinand’s nouveau French-Moroccan cuisine. The former Le Cirque and Aquavit chef runs a healthy kitchen (90% organic inventory) with dishes such as lemon and olive monkfish tagine, and rack of lamb with vegetable chutney. Downstairs beholds a bustling, magical bazaar setting with a Eurohouse soundtrack and some of New York’s largest private nooks where you can smoke tobacco-free hookahs. There’s even a private game room complete with a pool table, poker table, and PlayStation 3 - perfect for your next guys’ night. Good food and gaming. Who knew an oasis could be found in Midtown?
