Tapas-Style Vietnamese In SohoBu'n Opens Tuesday, November 6, 2007 Don’t you just love swanky new spots that serve good food? Tapas-style eateries where everything is less than $12? We love them, too. So let us introduce you to Bu’n, the new Vietnamese restaurant by star Chef Michael Bao Huynh (Mai House, Bao 111) and former Duran Duran guitarist Warren Cuccurullo. Bu’n (pronounced “boon”) offers small plates and noodles to go with a stylish setting. Here’s what you need to know about… STARTERS. Sharing the culinary love at Bu’n is easy (view the menu). Try the Bu’n Rolls like Roasted Duck with apple and basil, and Shrimp with Berkshire pork belly, lettuce, and mint. Indulge in Baby Lamb Lollipops with a side of pickled green papaya and Crispy Bass with Chanterelles in a coconut parsnip puree. Pair with a cold Singha beer. Then it’s time for… NOODLES. Order them dry with perfectly-seared Spicy Hangar Steak topped with thin slices of apple and mint. Or try them in soup, like the Pho Bo with beef sirloin cubes, rare beef and oxtail in a fragrant anise broth. Each dish is as artful in taste as it is to look at, just like the… INTERIORS. Known as the “Architect Chef”, Huynh puts his culinary and architectural training to work at Bu’n. He designed the bar/dining area to evoke a modern Vietnam, with pale woods and natural colors accented by bold modern furniture and custom artwork imported from a Vietnamese artist. Cheap and chic - perfect for Tuesday night. Visit eatbun.com. |
