Doughnut Decor at Doughnut Plant |
Dough Not ResistDoughnut Plant Friday, October 3, 2003 “Doughnuts. Is there anything they can’t do?” – Homer Simpson If Homer lived in Manhattan, you could bet on finding him at Doughnut Plant on the Lower East Side. Luckily for us, Mark Israel, affectionately known as “the doughnut man”, set up shop on Grand Street. His story starts two generations ago when his grandfather opened a successful bakery. Back then the secret to success was as simple as making/baking everything from scratch. Today, Mark continues the tradition, opting for the freshest ingredients to go with his organic baked treats. We highly recommend the Valrhona Chocolate doughnuts which melt in your mouth and in your hand, as well as the Vanillas made with Tahitian vanilla beans. The churros are also a must sample snack and their selection of seasonal (hot chocolate is in) beverages washes everything down well.
