Haute DogMandler's Opens Friday, November 7, 2003 Ronnie Mandler is the sausage king. And Mandler’s, his destination-worthy, gourmet sausage sandwich shop in Union Square is his castle. Here sandwiches are taken to a new level of deliciousness. In between fresh baked, slightly crispy, chewy buns is a sausage like no other. We gobbled up everything on the menu. The beef, chicken, kosher skinless, and chorizo sausages were incredible. The selection of toppings was equally extraordinary, and extensive. We’re talking classics like sweet onions and ketchup and new classics like mushrooms with onions, spicy red pepper, and jalapenos. And then there’s the side orders – perfect French fries, battered and deep fried zucchini chips, and my personal favorite, sweet fried corn meal with bits of real corn inside. Hungry yet? We, too.
