Shorty's.32 Opens

You’ve always had a special place in your stomach for home cooking.

So when you heard the opening buzz about a certain seasoned chef (Josh Eden) from Jean-Georges Vongerichten kitchens debuting his innovative American comfort food, you paid attention.

And when you heard the place was called Shorty’s.32, you really paid attention. Well, you’re always right. Chef Eden’s first restaurant is a hit: with a seasonally updated menu, nice cocktail/wine list, and even nicer prices, this little (only 32 seats) Soho gem is definitely worth a visit.

The menu (view the dinner menu) rotates to highlight best in-season ingredients, with an additional chalkboard of nightly specials. Start with excellent Crispy Crabsticks with Basil Remoulade and Braised Pork Belly with Cranberry Bean Salad. Move on to smartly updated classic entrées like Roasted Codfish with Caramelized Onions in a Gruyère Broth, and Short Ribs with Elbow Mac & Cheese.

Desserts hit the right notes, too (view the dessert menu). Save room for the crowd-pleasing warm chocolate bread pudding with caramelized bananas or the toasted pound cake drizzled with strawberries.

Best part is… if the crave for tender roast chicken with mash and fried garlic hits you at 2 a.m., the kitchen has got you covered.
