Underdog East is one of the many esoteric treasures along quiet East Seventh Street. Not much larger than the size of Mary Kate Olsen’s waist, the copper painted brick walled shop seems perfectly located in the East Village: It stocks quirky, fashion-forward labels like Filippa K, T-Country, Rogues Gallery, Nice Collective, and Yoko Devreaux that the neighborhood’s arts-oriented but fun loving young men scoop up during leisurely walks in the ‘hood. Grab a few pair of jeans while you’re here, notably their thorough selection of Ernest Sewn. The house brand makes funky accessories, like gentlemanly scarves and chunky leather hats that look like futuristic aluminum astronaut gear.
