The Doctor’s In: Yohji Yamamoto for Dr. MartensYohji Yamamoto for Dr. Martens and Armani for Mizuno Monday, March 12, 2007 Winter’s over and you can finally hang up your boots. The new Yohji Yamamoto-designed Doc Martens, though? You’ll want to slip those on before Spring begins.
The famed Japanese designer adds his brooding, tailored aesthetic to Europe’s most recognized boot with a pallette of dark red, deep purple, and essential black.
Touches like DM metal buckles and zig-zagging leather straps kick up the utilitarian edge, and each piece bares Yohji’s signature.
Lucky for you, those bad boys aren’t the only emerging Japanese footwear collaboration. Giorgio Armani has teamed up with Asian sport shoe specialist Mizuno to add some “sole” to both the Giorgio Armani and Emporio Armani lines.
Mizuno’s Wave technology makes both renditions of the sleek Armani sneaks ultra-light and increases athletic performance with a unique shock-absorption technology. The Giorgios come in a “Running” and “City” version (with special scratch resistant leather), while the glove-like micro-injected EA eagle splashed Emporio entries are strictly for sprinting. We just hope they do as much for your gym pick-ups as they do your workout. |
